What AMM Means
AMM stands for
Aircraft Maintenance Manual
The AMM is published by whoever built the aircraft and governs work done on it. For a component, that usually means isolating a fault, removing the unit, and fitting a serviceable one.
It stops there deliberately. What happens to the removed unit belongs to the component vendor's manual, because the airframer neither designed it nor approves its repair.
