What ATA Chapter Means
ATA chapters give the industry a shared address space: chapter 32 is landing gear whoever built the aircraft. That consistency is why a technician moving between types can still find things.
The scheme predates the digital specifications built on it and survives inside them, including as the basis for standard numbering in civil S1000D programs.
