What Taxonomy Means
A taxonomy is the agreed set of buckets and labels content is tagged with. It is what makes filtering by product, audience, or configuration possible without anyone maintaining a list by hand.
It is also where sprawl does the most damage. Letting the vocabulary grow to accommodate every request produces a scheme too large to apply consistently, at which point the tags stop meaning anything.
