What SVG Means
SVG stands for
Scalable Vector Graphics
SVG is vector graphics expressed as XML, which means illustrations can be inspected, validated and transformed with the same tools as the content around them.
S1000D Issue 6 introduced an SVG profile for technical illustration, which is the clearest signal of direction: new work increasingly starts in SVG while substantial CGM libraries remain in service.
