Publication Module

The S1000D object that defines a deliverable publication as an ordered assembly of references to data modules, rather than as a document.

Definition

What Publication Module Means

A publication module is a table of contents with authority. It names which data modules make up a given manual and in what order, so the manual itself is generated rather than maintained. Nothing is duplicated into it.

This is what makes the same content serve several deliverables at once. A procedure written once can appear in an operator manual, a maintenance manual, and a training publication, each assembled by its own publication module, each staying current automatically when the underlying module is revised.
